The Order of Time

Why we chose this title

What is it that makes time so important to us?

Now and again it can feel like we are ruled by it.

So many things to do or accomplish and so little time at our disposal.

Where does the urge to measure everything come from?

In the end it still won’t mean the same to all of us.

Where one sees time flying by, another can’t wait for it to pass.

Isn’t it all a question of interpretation? A point of view.

By changing how we view time we may be able to live life differently.

To allow us to simply observe what surrounds us and ‘take’ our time.

To live the present actively and consciously.

It might end up making our lives more meaningful.

Book Summary

Enlightening and consoling The Order of Time shows that to understand ourselves we need to reflect on time - and to understand time we need to reflect on ourselves.

With his extraordinary charm and sense of wonder, bringing together science, philosophy and art, Carlo Rovelli unravels this mystery, inviting us to imagine a world where time is in us and we are not in time.
