Untamed

Why we chose this title

Most of us would consider ourselves free and fairly independent people.

Free to choose. Free to decide.

However, if we dig a little deeper we come to realise that our choices and decisions are under the influence of something bigger.

We are all born into value and belief systems that teach us about the rights and wrongs, the dos and don’ts.

Systems that tell us what is best for us and others.

Instead of truly asking ourselves what it is that we want in life, we are conditioned by what we have been taught since our childhood.

It takes an internal revolution to overthrow these systems.

It requires questioning our choices and decisions before we act.

We would want to feel it out, get out of our heads and into our hearts.

To break free from the imaginary prisons we find ourselves in.

Many would say that it would lead to total chaos.

If everyone would be free to choose as they please, we would live in total anarchy.

But how dangerous can a deeply happy and stimulated human really be?

Book Summary

Soulful and uproarious, forceful and tender, Untamed is both an intimate memoir and a galvanizing wake-up call. It is the story of how one woman learned that a responsible mother is not one who slowly dies for her children, but one who shows them how to fully live. It is the story of navigating divorce, forming a new blended family, and discovering that the brokenness or wholeness of a family depends not on its structure but on each member's ability to bring her full self to the table. And it is the story of how each of us can begin to trust ourselves enough to set boundaries, make peace with our bodies, honor our anger and heartbreak, and unleash our truest, wildest instincts so that we become women who can finally look at ourselves and say:

There She Is.

Untamed shows us how to be brave. As Glennon insists: The braver we are, the luckier we get.
